For a very in-depth discussion about the evolution of babywearing, please read this article.  I personally wear my child every day and night.  My baby will only sleep in the carrier on my back.  It is the only way I can get him to nap during the day and fall asleep most nights.  I have to do the dishes or some other boring task in order for him to finally go to sleep.  I am reminded of our much stronger ancestors who were actually roaming continents instead of just pacing in the kitchen.  I would prefer that he sleep in a bed, however I cannot bring myself to do the ‘CIO’ method, nor do I actually have money for a crib.
